TITUSVILLE, Pa. — The Manufacturing Assistance Center is now enrolling students for its Spring 2026 evening courses in machining and manufacturing technologies. The MAC is a partnership between the University of Pittsburgh’s Swanson School of Engineering and the Education & Training Center at Pitt-Titusville.
The MAC offers flexible, hands-on training designed to meet the needs of both traditional and non-traditional learners. Courses begin in January and run through April, with classes held two times per week.
Spring offerings include:
ENGR 0113: Introduction to Basic Machining Processes
ENGR 0130: Introduction to CNC Operations and Theory
ENGR 0220: Introduction to Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing
The MAC features instructors with deep industry experience, including Gary Allio, who brings over 40 years of manufacturing expertise and more than 15 years of experience running his own machine shop. Allio’s background in CNC and manual machining provides students with real-world insights and mentorship.
Joining the team this year is Evan Tanner, a recent hire whose fresh perspective and technical knowledge reflect the MAC’s commitment to innovation and workforce development. Tanner brings 13 years of experience in a variety a different industries and machines, as well as two-years of previous teaching experience. Tanner said, “I wanted the opportunity to help people find what's possible with manufacturing and machining, and to help them develop skills for a successful career.”
“Our instructors bring both experience and enthusiasm to the classroom,” said Melanie LaLone, workforce readiness and recruitment coordinator. “Gary’s decades of hands-on experience and Evan’s fresh perspective create a dynamic learning environment that equips students with the skills they need to thrive in today’s manufacturing industry.”
Located at the Education & Training Center at Pitt-Titusville, the MAC is expanding access to manufacturing and tool-and-die training across the region. In just 15 weeks, students can gain the skills needed to transform their earning potential and professional trajectory—without leaving their community.
